A car and a police car collided near the roundabout at Prince Charles Road in Exeter at 8.40am yesterday, after a driver lapsed into unconsciousness. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "It appears the driver of a Silver Mitsubishi Carisma suffered a medical episode and crashed over a pedestrian crossing and crashed head-on into a police car." The male driver of the Carimsa was temporarily unconscious and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The two officers in the Ford Focus police car were uninjured and directed traffic.
