TV CHEFS the Fabulous Baker Brothers arrive in Exmouth this evening. The programme, filmed last summer at Exmouth's Beacon Vaults, will be shown on More 4 this evening at 9pm...
In the programme, the baking duo will concoct three "iconic" Exmouth dishes for The Beacon Vaults and will ask local residents to sample the food and vote for their favourite recipe.
The show is the latest in the Baker brothers series, and follows on from their recent programme in Blackpool, where they created dishes using local ingredients for a cafe.
Having visited Exmouth - and met the Exmouth Shanty Men along the way - Tom and Henry Baker are convinced that people would prefer more locally inspired flavours. To prove their point, they "test the town". Having done some research, they turn their attention to creating three iconic Exmouth dishes for The Beacon Vaults pub.
Devon egg
The brothers' first creation is the Devon Egg - a runny egg, wrapped in fresh salmon and crab, rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried until golden.
Taking inspiration from Exmouth's "colourful past", Henry then creates a Smugglers' Pie: tender beef steeped in cider, served in a light pastry case, topped with potato and apple mash and flambéed in brandy.
Their third dish is influenced by Devon's traditional cream tea. Tom creates a Devon Jubilee Tart, a rich clotted cream custard infused with cherries and served in a puff pastry case.
The public is then invited to sample all three dishes and vote. Which one will be crowned The Beacon Vaults' new signature dish?
