Hundreds of people descended on a sunny town to celebrate Valentine's Day on a brand new scale.

Around 500 people flocked to Love Dawlish in the town centre.

The event on Saturday was all about love and included performances, workshops and activities including a Passionometer to test the strength of love and an Imaginarium to hear love stories and songs.

A cabaret night of music and comedy took place in the evening at a pub featuring songs and sketches from local performers.

Sophie McCormack, of Dawlish-based social enterprise Promenade Promotions, said: "We had a strong turnout during the day and many people stayed for the cabaret event in the evening.

"It was very interactive, the Passionometer and the Imaginarium were full all day, as people heard music and listened to stories.

"Everyone I spoke to had a fun day and really enjoyed themselves. After organising most of it in a short space of time, it was nice to see everything come together.

She added: "The town council really wanted the event to happen in Dawlish.

"Everyone was chuffed to bits with how well it went. And we'd love to do the event again next year."
