There is strong evidence of police involvement in his murder and that the investigation is being deliberately stalled by senior officers.
In pursuit of justice for Barry Pring I have raised the matter in the House of Commons, been in constant contact with the previous UK Ambassador Leigh Turner as well as the current Ambassador Simon Smith, and I have met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK, Volodymyr Khandogiy, the Minister for Europe David Liddington MP as well as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Valeriy Khoroshkovsky, to put pressure on the Ukraine Government to ensure this crime does not go unpunished.
I believe for justice to be done the Devon and Cornwall Police must be part of the investigation. For this to happen, they require an international letter of request to assist the Ukrainian authorities with their investigation under the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. Despite the Pring family's attempts to obtain this, they have not been successful.
It is for this reason that I am meeting with the Prime Minister to ask him to do everything in his power to ensure that Barry Pring's murder is investigated properly.
