Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale was proud to see his side break Exeter City's record of away wins in a season, but said it would count for nothing of his side did not go on to achieve something this season.
The 3-0 win at Morecambe was Exeter's tenth on their travels this campaign and surpassed the previous record of nine, set by Tisdale's side in 2009, who finished that season as runners-up in League Two.
"It is a terrific achievement to get the ten wins and I am very proud of it," Tisdale said. "I declined to discuss it before it had been achieved, but, now we have done it, I have said to the players that it counts for nothing and what really matters is where we finish in the league.
"The more wins we get – at home or away – we have to take the encouraging comments that come with it with a pinch of salt, just as we take the negative and pessimistic comments when we draw a home game.
"It's all about how many wins we get in a season and where we finish and that's what matters. It was three points today, a very good performance and I am very pleased with them.
"It's nice to break records, but the record we want is to win promotion as we did last time. I think we are capable of winning more away games, so let's not stop here."
Speak to anyone inside the camp and they will agree that team is set up to play in a certain way and that style is perhaps better suited to away games, when the onus is on the home team to do the majority of the attacking.
That was largely the case on Saturday as the Grecians picked Morecambe off in the last half hour with three superb goals, two of which came from ever-green striker Jamie Cureton and one from Arron Davies, who was excellent on the Grecians' left wing.
"You don't see many better passes than Tommy Doherty's, I don't think Jamie had to break his stride. Jamie Cureton does not need too many chances and it was a great pass and a great finish," Tisdale said of the first goal.
"The second goal was a terrific goal as well. I am saddened to hear that people have been on his [Davies'] back and I don't know why. It was a really good goal.
"It was a good example of how to take a free-kick. It was well worked and ended up with a very confident finish from Arron, and the third goal was real team composure in the final third.
"We have been at fault once or twice for rushing things and we rushed things a few times when we got into the final third in the first half. But Mark Molesley and one or two others really kept their heads and it was another terrific finish from Jamie."
Arguably City's best performer was Tommy Doherty, who was brilliant in the Grecians' midfield. Tisdale added: "It was a terrific performance, very competent and very strong. I think if you had to pick a man of the match today, you'd have to say it was the team.
"The team was very, very strong. We passed the ball and we competed.
"Tommy was very, very strong. He passed the ball extremely well and competed and it was a really good performance from Tommy, but the man of the match was the team today.
"For someone who hasn't played very much, he was superb. He is a fantastic competitor and has wonderful vision as a footballer. Mark is a different type of player to Tommy and is not as smooth on the eye, but we had the balance today. I also thought it was the best Scot Bennett played for a long time.
"We went into the game trying to play within our limits and it is amazing how doing that produces results. It's another clean-sheet as well and that is really what is providing the basis for our performance.
"Danny Coles brought the ball out of defence two or three times, Pat [Baldwin] is getting stronger, they are all getting stronger and the goalkeeper [Artur Krysiak] has been excellent. It was probably his most all-round and competent performance for Exeter."
