Point-to-pointing is back on track with Silverton Foxhounds hosting a re-arranged meeting today.
Seven races are on offer and Molland Gayle could follow up on her win here in December for jockey Ian Chanin in the hunt members' race which heads the action at noon. Another Robert Chanin entry is Ned White who ran on gamely in a restricted at Wadebridge before being headed in the final 50 yards.
Ned White's connections may prefer to run him in the restricted race which follows, but he may need to tackle the Don Constable-owned Joe The Trucker, an ex-Irish half-brother to British pointing regular Optimistic Harry. The gelding won his maiden here for jockey Tom David in December seeing Billy Congo off by half a length.
The Charles Stanley sponsored ladies' open entries include the Sarah Gould trained Special Occasion. He won this race last year and then went on to win at Larkhill. He could well be in the mix if recovering well from his second at Chipley Park last weekend when beaten three quarters of a length by Bleuvito. Oca De Thaix has wins in double figures.
Knight Frank sponsor the men's open and the David Gibbs-trained Books Review goes well fresh. He ran a creditable second in the Connolly's Red Mills final at Cheltenham behind Doctor Kingsley.
Two divisions of the open maiden follow and of particular interest is the Royal runner First Watch, trained by Zara Phillips. The gelding was travelling well until he unseated his rider Tom David at the 13th fence at Chaddesley Corbett earlier in the season.
An additional race to the programme is the Intermediate with the winning horse being eligible for the Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate Final Hunter Chase at Cheltenham on Wednesday, May 1. The vote goes to the Sheila Crow-trained Fruit Fayre having scored a double at Eyton. He could take this race unless course winner Molland Gayle opts for this rather than the members' race.
The course offers hot refreshments, bar, bookies and trade stands. It is located at Kenton near Exeter off the A380 postcode, EX6 8HR. Entrance is £20 per car and passengers and £10 car and single driver.
