Moretonhampstead Festival of Food, Drink and the Arts is holding a mammoth kitchen jumble sale on the day of the festival Saturday 9th March 2013 in the Parish Hall Fore street. Do you have anything gathering dust in the dark recesses of your kitchen cupboards? That fondue set you haven't used since 1982? That extraordinary useless gadget that squashes boiled eggs into cubes? That ice-cream machine you never seem to plug in? Old plates, too many forks, tumblings of tupperware, recipe books, the cherry-stoner at the back of the drawer..... Your kitchen cast offs could be another person's treasure.

The festival needs your unwanted kitchen equipment - cutlery and crockery, cookbooks and cake tins, spoons, spatulas, baking trays and bowls, retro, vintage and modern. Anything in good condition, please donate.

Proceeds to Farms for City Children, a local charity set up by the writer Michael Morpurgo. This charity gets children involved in everything necessary to keep a farm going. They learn hands-on where their food comes from, the importance of caring for animals and the land, and the value of working co-operatively as a team. The rewards are, unusually, non-material and self-generated: children discover an active enjoyment in life and a sense of achievement, the effects of which remain with them long after they have waved the farms goodbye

For further information on how to donate please call either Tina on 01647 440594 or Gabby on 01647 441141 or look on the website
